Bloom energy is a company almost no one knew anything about until recently. Now they with there new Bloom box fuel cells they are all over the news.
1. The energy is generated on-site, so there is no loss of energy from transmitting it through something like power lines
2. Can convert a variety of fuels both renewable or fossil fuels into electricity
3. Capable of both energy generation and storage
4. Low cost materials - unlike previous fuel cells these work with a low cost sand instead of costly metals like platinum
5. Companies like Google, Ebay and Walmart are already using this technology
1. Currently really expensive, about $750,000 for a 100 kilowatt system
