Pros & Cons of Staying At My Job
Created by slatifi on 04/02/2010
I moved to N.C. for my first post-grad job. Some days it's good, some days it feels unbearable. I only moved here for this job, and my friends/family are places elsewhere. I have had trouble meeting people I like and overall, I know I don't want to live in North Carolina for the rest of my life. But do I leave a somewhat secure position now because it makes me unhappy?
1. it's a job that pays me decent with benefits
2. i've already somewhat established myself/i'm competent doing the work
3. staying another year could look better on a resume
4. my brother will be here in the fall for school and perhaps, provide a good influence?
5. there is a very small chance for internal movement/growth -- but likely not in the next year
6. i wouldn't be living at home
1. i don't want to stay in north carolina long-term, so why stay any longer?
2. i dislike my boss, and he makes the day-to-day somewhat unbearable
3. it's safe to stay here and not take any risks
4. my brother will be here to watch over me
5. i'm away from the people i care about most
6. i COULD get laid off and be stranded
7. i am missing out on other, possibly better paying options
8. continued unhappiness/complaining, which i hate
