Pros & Cons of getting a puppy

adding a four-legged member to the family
1. a friend
2. reason to get up earlier
3. reason to implement routine
4. dog would gives us a break from each other
5. it'd be fun watching it
6. reason to go outside (walking, dog park, farmer's market)
7. safety when home alone
8. fenced-in back yard is nice to have
9. work companion
1. chewed up furniture
2. damage to the carpet
3. neighbor dog would be annoyed?
4. dog smell?
5. allergies?
6. when we are both traveling, leaving it with parents would make be feel anxious...
7. cost of ownership: about $1000 a year, more the first year
8. where would we even put its crate?
9. bath tub would have to go through deep cleaning after dog washing
