Pros & Cons of Getting an Android phone
Created by tachyondecay on 11/19/2010
Android phones have finally come to TBayTel. I'm still on my first phone, a dinky 4-year-old LG phone. It still works fine. I'm a Google fanatic and love the options and freedom Android offers. But I'm also stubborn about sticking with "last year's model."
1. Check email, update my calendar, and browse the Web on the go (especially at university).
2. Can serve as an ereader.
3. Android apps, baby. There's so much more I can do I can't even imagine right now.
4. Bluetooth and USB means I can finally connect my phone to my computer. Hello remote control.
5. My father will no longer have the better phone. The younger generation should have the new technology, no?
6. WiFi means I can use it around the house when I'm too lazy to move my laptop, especially outside.
1. Will cost more, especially for data (about double current fees).
2. Am I just jumping on the techy bandwagon?
3. My current phone works fine. Why upgrade?
4. Will have to talk to people (probably multiple people) to pull this off. I hate dealing with people.
5. Will require me to get a new contract (currently contract-free).
6. This means Google will own more of my data.
